Diogo has been teaching guitar, bass and “combo” to kids from age 6 to 52 for the past decade. since this is a music studio website, why not teach (or maybe, share some knowledge and compare notes?) songwriting with production?
so we offer 3 types of lessons: GUITAR/BASS, SONGWRITING and COMBO
guitar/bass lessons
(acoustic, classical or electric)
learn the songs, learn the instrument
at PGS, lessons are built around the music that made you want to pick up the instrument in the first place. Diogo has always taken a “songs-first” approach to teaching guitar and bass. so rather than following a rigid method, the focus is on learning music concepts through songs
lessons are adapted to each student’s interests and experience level. whether you’re learning a few chord shapes, trying to improve your fingerpicking, or simply just wanting to impress your friends, our goal is to make the learning process practical, engaging and connected to music
we may explore: chord progressions, chord shapes, harmonic rhythm, rhythm and timing, fingerpicking styles and patterns, ear training, triads, inversions, scales and arpeggios, tone, and so on…

guitar/bass lessons (acoustic, classical or electric)
(rhythm, harmony, lyric writing, structure, arrangement, production….)
songwriting lessons (rhythm, harmony, lyric writing, structure, arrangement, production….)
“talent is a pursued interest. in other words anything you’re willing to practice, you can do” - that’s a bob ross quote for ya and a damn good one
when you pay attention to patterns and how songs are constructed, you start to notice that songwriting is a skill just like any other. one that can be practiced in order to let you express whatever it is you want to express
sense-bound writing, song structure, the power of rhyming or not rhyming, harmonic development, rhythmic patterns, prosody are all tools that because they can be analysed and categorised, they can be practiced
we aim to have a “Tools, not Rules” educational approach so everything we study in songwriting isn’t a foundational universal truth
combo lessons
(bring some friends and some songs and let´s jam)
do you have a group of friends at school or at work and need someone to direct and guide the group with a space setup to rehearse? we can help!
on our combo lessons we are going to discuss arrangement, instrumentation, tone, dynamics, tempo changes, and so on…
combo lessons will be available once we move to the new space!
rehearsal space can include: guitar amps, bass amps, drum kit, keyboard and a simple PA system for vocals
learning room rate$ info
consistency while learning a new instrument is key, so lessons at our studios occur weekly (or two lessons back to back every two weeks if distance is an issue), as we feel that’s the best option for a committed approach to learning
instrument and songwriting lessons are 45 minutes and combo lessons are 60 minutes
scheduling is defined in accordance with the student
want to just try out just a single lesson? no worries we can do that too!
we also have “vouchers” of 4 and 8 lessons in case you want to offer some to a friend…or an enemy
*if you already have instrument or songwriting lessons with us and want to put together a band, we offer a discount for the combo lessons for you
